For this contest, I chose the piece, "Basked in the Early Sun", because it was my very first digital painting ever. I can't believe how much I had improved from when I first started digital painting, to how I am now.

I was wondering whether I should redraw the painting but still follow what I did before but I decided against it. I was severely limited by my lack of skills when I drew the first painting. Everything from the pose, to the background, to anatomy and the atmosphere of the entire first painting was extremely patched-up because I didn't know how to do any better.

That's why my new painting has a more dynamic pose and perspective, the background is more detailed now and the anatomy of the children are closer to reality than before.

I know that I still have a lot more to work on but I'm very happy to see how much I've improved. I'm proud to say that I didn't just develop a new style, I also improved with the other elements of painting. And I owe that to all the great tutorials here and outside of DA(which I really should get around to posting some links like I promised a few people >.<; )

All in all, I really don't think I'm going to win as there are lots of entries. But this challenge is fun to do for the heck of it so even once this contest is over, I recommend everyone to grab the template or the original meme and try this challenge ^_^
